After a string of five wins, the Ferndale Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Novi. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ferndale came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Novi is ranked 290th).
Ferndale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Janiya Larry, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Demi Bolton, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Ferndale's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Novi, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ferndale will square off against Hamady at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamady's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so Ferndale's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Novi, they will head out on the road to face off against Plymouth at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
