The South Garner Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 55-3 win over Clayton. That 55-3 margin sets a new team best for South Garner this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Garner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmine Utley, who scored eight points along with seven steals and six assists. Utley hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kimaya Barnes was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
The win was the fourth in a row for South Garner, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Clayton, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Garner won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Broughton at 6:15 p.m. on December 20th. Broughton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 347th, while South Garner is ranked 44th). Clayton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Garner at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Garner is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
