Hempstead hasn't had much luck against Burton recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bobcats will face off against the Panthers at 9:00 a.m.
Hempstead lost 10-4 to Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on Friday.
Hempstead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Melchor, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Burton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let Anderson-Shiro get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Ryder Biggs, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Eli Jaeger was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Burton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.
The win got Burton back to even at 2-2. As for Hempstead, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Burton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Hempstead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Burton, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Hempstead keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Hempstead might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Burton in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
