This season hasn't been kind to the Chase Kats, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfield on Tuesday. Chase lost against Fairfield in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-33 score last time.
It was another big night for Erin Schwertfeger, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds for Fairfield. That's the first time this season that Schwertfeger scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Yareli Martinez, who scored four points along with four steals.
Chase's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Fairfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase will take on Ellinwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against LaCrosse at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. LaCrosse is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
