4A Region 3 recap October 1, 2013
Dallas County made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,411 from 10,636. The improvement was the result of a 22-0 victory over Marion last week.
Michael Walls threw for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 12-16 with 1 interception.
Javon Moore was the best receiver in 4A Region 3 this week as Elmore County defeated Prattville Christian Academy. Moore tallied 7 receptions for 120 yards. Jalen Mitchell helped Elmore County's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 120 yards.
The Panthers' Walls and Moore led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Walls has thrown for 957 yards this season, while Moore, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 32 catches for 478 yards. Dadeville's C. J. Tolbert leads the league in rushing yards with 777.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Childersburg takes on Central of Clay County. As it stands, the Tigers are in third, while the Volunteers are in first.
Elmore County led 4A Region 3 in scoring this week by notching 47 points on the Panthers. Walls ran for 43 yards during the win.
