Redlands East Valley hasn't had much luck against Beaumont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Redlands East Valley took a 22-point defeat the last time they faced off against Yucaipa, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over the Thunderbirds on Friday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Thunderbirds on their field since September 23, 2016.

Vitela Isaac had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 255 yards and three TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Redlands East Valley's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Beaumont hadn't done well against Citrus Valley recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blackhawks 56-3. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Redlands East Valley better keep an eye on Jeremiah Duhu. He was instrumental in Beaumont's win, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. What's more, Duhu racked up 137 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Quillan Davis, who rushed for 156 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Beaumont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Beaumont didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adam Palalay and Cameron Hazward. Palalay has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Redlands East Valley pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Beaumont, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Redlands East Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Beaumont struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 170 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Redlands East Valley was taken down by Beaumont 56-8 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Duhu, who rushed for 58 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, and also threw for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Now that the Wildcats know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
