Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Nicholas County had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Clay County Panthers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lucas Milam and Caleb Jarvis did most of the damage at the plate: Milam scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Jarvis scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Jarvis has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Burns, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nicholas County will face off against Braxton County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay County, they will take on Calhoun at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
