After losing to the Fenwick Friars the last time they met, the St. Francis Spartans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. St. Francis came out on top against Fenwick by a score of 51-38 on Saturday. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Fenwick is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Francis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from T?a Rubino, who scored 17 points. Rubino is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Lynsey Cleveland was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
St. Francis pushed their record up to 10-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Fenwick, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
St. Francis on the road again on Tuesday and play against Saint Viator at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Saint Viator focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday. As for Fenwick, they will be playing at home against DePaul College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
