Zion Staples was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds for Artesia. Staples is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games he's played. Joshua Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Pioneer has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Artesia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Pioneer will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Artesia, they will head out on the road to challenge the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oxford Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1056th, while the Pioneers are ranked 428th).
