St. John is 10-0 against Dakota Prairie since March of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The St. John Woodchucks will head out on the road to square off against the Dakota Prairie Knights at 6:30 p.m. St. John has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 12.
Last Monday, St. John was the victim of a tough 71-45 loss at the hands of North Star co-op [Cando/Bisbee-Egeland]. While losing is never fun, St. John can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while North Star co-op [Cando/Bisbee-Egeland] is ranked 17th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aston Parisien, who scored ten points along with five assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tayden Longie, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Dakota Prairie scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 79-78 photo finish over Warwick. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
St. John has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Dakota Prairie, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
St. John strolled past Dakota Prairie in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
