The DSST: College View Wolves will take on the Kennedy Commanders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on DSST: College View, who comes in off a win.
Back in December of 2024, everything came up roses for DSST: College View against Girls Athletic Leadership School - Denver as the team secured a 46-19 win.
It was another big night for Da'Naiya Hickey, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 17 boards, and nine steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of DSST: College View's points. Aaliya Brown was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
DSST: College View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kennedy came up short against Standley Lake on Saturday and fell 50-43. The Commanders have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
DSST: College View will need focus on slowing down Morgan Williams, one of several Kennedy players who made an impact when they last played. She almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Williams also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Kennedy is 3-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Keana Venegas-Alvarez, who posted ten points and four steals.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for DSST: College View, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: DSST: College View has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36 boards per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
