The Antonito Trojans managed to keep up with the Moffat Cowboys until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Antonito was the victim of a tough 56-35 loss at the hands of Moffat. Antonito has struggled against Moffat recently, as their contest on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Antonito lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jasiah Jiron. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Jiron has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Rylan Trant was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
It was another big night for Ziah Pesqueira, who scored 19 points along with eight steals and six rebounds for Moffat. Pesqueira is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noble Cole, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Antonito's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Moffat, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antonito will take on Liberty Tree Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Tree Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Moffat, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
