Central Magnet extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 9-1 to the Battle Creek Grizzlies. Central Magnet was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Battle Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Central Magnet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Croasdaile, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Battle Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
On Battle Creek's side, Autumn Forkum made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Forkum was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Hadley Boehms looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Emmy McAdams was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lily Yahya, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, Central Magnet will square off against Shelbyville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.86 runs per game on average), something Central Magnet will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Battle Creek, they will take on Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
