The biggest upset of the week belonged to Santa Teresa, who took down 48th ranked Centennial, 34-7. A.J. Sedillo threw for 71 yards and one touchdown and ran for 155 yards in the win.
The Desert Warriors' Sedillo recorded the longest rushing play in 4A District 3 this season in his game against the Hawks last week.
Deming's dynamic duo of David Padron and Dominic Saenz proved tough for Chaparral to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Padron threw for 142 yards and four touchdowns and Saenz had 51 yards receiving. Richard Regalado helped Deming's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
The Lobos' JOHN MARQUEZ and Christian Ramos have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. MARQUEZ has thrown for 1089 yards this season, while Ramos, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 51 catches for 637 yards. The Wildcats' Ismail Garrett leads the league in rushing yards with 983.
Deming's Garrett is a mere 17 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Shae Vierra's team takes on Fernie Holguin's team. The Desert Warriors are in third place, while the Wildcats are in first place.
There should be lots of points scored when Santa Teresa and Deming face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Desert Warriors comes in having scored 185 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 210. Santa Teresa scored 34 points last week as it topped Centennial.
Deming extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 3 this week by beating Chaparral, 42-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wildcats.
