Petrolia is 0-5 against Nocona since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Petrolia Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Nocona Indians at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Petrolia has not done well against Archer City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Petrolia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 victory over Archer City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Petrolia has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Nocona put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Olney at home to the tune of 82-5. Winning may never get old, but Nocona sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
The victory makes it two in a row for Petrolia and bumps their season record up to 11-14. As for Nocona, their victory was their 22nd straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-3.
Petrolia took a serious blow against Nocona in their previous matchup on January 5th, falling 77-10. Can Petrolia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
