II Section VII recap October 8, 2013
Chaparral added to the longest winning streak in II Section VII this week by beating Notre Dame Prep, 42-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Firebirds.
Arcadia and Paradise Valley played the most contested game in the league this week, with Arcadia eventually emerging with a 46-43 victory. Peter Campbell threw for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 48 yards in the win.
Campbell was a passing and rushing force as the Titans defeated the Trojans. Campbell's key target this week was Devon Ferguson, who caught 4 passes for 77 yards.
Chandler Fox threw for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 14-19 with 2 interceptions.
Trevor Wood was the best wideout in the league this week as Chaparral bested the Saints. Wood tallied 5 receptions for 105 yards. Israel Simpson helped Chaparral's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 51 yards.
David Huffine's team's Sean Paul Brophy and Wood led II Section VII in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Brophy has thrown for 1,302 yards this season, while Wood has 39 catches for 503 yards. Paradise Valley's Max Vankempen leads the league in rushing yards with 636.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Arcadia takes on the Firebirds. At the moment, Lenny Abt's team is in fourth, while Chaparral is in first.
Notre Dame Prep fell to the Firebirds 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
