Football Recap: John Allen Williamson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakeside over South Effingham + How To Watch

Lakeside fought the good fight in their overtime match against South Effingham on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The loss leaves the Panthers still looking for their first win of the season.

Lakeside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was John Allen Williamson, who rushed for 32 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 146 yards on nine of 15 attempts. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles and defending one pass. Lakeside also got a significant boost from Tristan Jones, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Effingham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khyran White, who rushed for 161 yards and two TDs. Another player making a difference was Liam Coburn, who rushed for 64 yards on only nine carries.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South Effingham, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Lakeside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-28 loss against Glynn Academy on the 19th. As for South Effingham, they have also already played their next game, a 49-21 defeat against Effingham County on the 19th.
