The Auburndale Bloodhounds will head out on the road to challenge the Mulberry Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Auburndale will be strutting in after a win while Mulberry will be coming in after a defeat.
Auburndale took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Frostproof.
Colton Wagoneer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Hagan Bennett was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Colton Shelton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Mulberry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Sebring. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 22, 2025.
Elias Resendez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Mulberry saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Tyree, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Mulberry's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Auburndale, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.
Everything went Auburndale's way against Mulberry when the teams last played last Thursday, as Auburndale made off with a 16-2 win. Will the Bloodhounds repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
