Lake has gone 9-1 against Otsego recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Flyers will host the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Lake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Otsego's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lake had taken Maumee down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Flyers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The loss continues a trend for the Flyers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Otsego made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fostoria on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Redmen. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Otsego gave Jake Greenwald the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Greenwald also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Knights are 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Tre Serrato relieved him and did a solid job, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Brock Sorosiak and Noah Mulinix did most of the damage at the plate: Sorosiak went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Mulinix went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Mulinix has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Frank, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Otsego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win snapped Otsego's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-11 record. As for Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
Lake beat Otsego 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
