Herriman has gone 8-2 against Copper Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Herriman has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Herriman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bingham, who was ranked 18th at the time (Herriman was ranked 19th). The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Miners on Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.
Herriman got a great performance from Sierra Prescott as she struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and not a single walk). Prescott has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddy Maxfield was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Copper Hills lost 16-2 to Riverton on Thursday. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Silverwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Copper Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dannaca Moss, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Herriman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Copper Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Herriman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Copper Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
