China Spring is 2-8 against Lorena since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in China Spring's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
If China Spring beats Lorena with 28 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand La Vega a 28-0 shutout on Friday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Chelsea Buro made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, China Spring let Carly Blalock and Lakyn Stinson run wild. Blalock went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Stinson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Stinson has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Payton Maddox, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
China Spring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lorena, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Gatesville by a score of 8-3 on Friday.
Jaylie Werner made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Werner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Rodriguez and Clara Andrews did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Andrews went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Holly Barrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
China Spring has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Lorena, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. China Spring hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Lorena struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
China Spring couldn't quite get it done against Lorena in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
