After low-scoring totals in their previous eight contests, Rio Rico brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Amphitheater Panthers on Monday. The Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Rio Rico let Mariana Santamaria and Ximena Zuniga run wild. Santamaria went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Zuniga scored three runs while going 1-for-1. That triple marked the first that Santamaria hit this season. Kenia Navarro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Rio Rico's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Amphitheater, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Rio Rico Hawks face off against Thatcher Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amphitheater, they will take on Rio Rico at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
