The North Putnam Cougars's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 53-46 win over West Vigo. The victory was just what North Putnam needed coming off of a 84-46 defeat in their prior game.
North Putnam got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lexi Daigle out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Rose Haste was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
North Putnam's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for West Vigo, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Putnam won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Montgomery at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (North Montgomery is ranked 279th, while North Putnam is ranked 301st). As for West Vigo, they will head out on the road to face off against Cloverdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cloverdale comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
