Woodland Christian and Colusa are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will take on the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodland Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Colusa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy hit Woodland Christian with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 8-7.
Meanwhile, Colusa made easy work of Pierce on Tuesday and carried off a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ava Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Elli Santana was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Santana, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Colusa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pierce only managed six hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Colusa and bumps their season record up to 18-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Woodland Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.
Woodland Christian suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Colusa when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
