The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders were the 41-37 winner over the Jackson Fighting Indians when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Saxony Lutheran fell 59-47 to Jackson on Monday. Saxony Lutheran has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evie Caruso, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Caruso hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Johnson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Saxony Lutheran's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8. As for Jackson, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saxony Lutheran will take on North County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Saxony Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Jackson, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on New Madrid County Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 15th.
