The Raymond Rangers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Richland by a score of 20-7. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Raymond was the (much) better team in the second half.
Raymond was led to victory by Keveonta White and Amodra Moffett. White rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Moffett rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Richland to a paltry 240 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Raymond's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zander Butler and DeMarrion Williams who racked up four sacks between them.
Despite the loss, Richland still got an impressive performance from JaQuavion Young, who rushed for 91 yards, and also picked up 51 receiving yards.
Raymond's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Richland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raymond will take on McComb at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McComb is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Richland, they will be playing at home against St. Andrew's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
