The Coconut Creek Cougars will face off against the Dwyer Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Coconut Creek has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Panthers will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Coconut Creek had to suffer through a rough 61-21 loss at the hands of the Colts. While losing is never fun, Coconut Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Colts are ranked 136th).
Coconut Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Abigail Theophile, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Ma?Kylah Menard who scored three points.
Even though Dwyer has not done well against the Gators recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Dwyer came out on top against the Gators by a score of 52-44.
Coconut Creek dropped their record down to 8-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.3 points per game. As for Dwyer, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Coconut Creek was dealt a bruising 60-25 loss at the hands of the Panthers when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Coconut Creek was down 34-13.
