Softball Recap: Centennial Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Centennial had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Mansfield Timberview on Friday. Centennial never let Mansfield Timberview get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alyssa Mayner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Bruner, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Bruner a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Madison Haynes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.

Centennial pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Mansfield Timberview, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Centennial will square off against rival Cleburne at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mansfield Timberview is set to challenge their familiar foe Joshua at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
