Norwell will face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Norwell got the win against Adams Central by a conclusive 12-6. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.
Reese Frauhiger was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Young, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Norwell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fort Wayne Bishop Luers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over DeKalb. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Kaylee Dennis, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. Addison Haney was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Norwell pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Norwell has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, though, as they've been averaging 12.6 hits. Given Norwell's sizable advantage in that area, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers will need to find a way to close that gap.
