Parkview Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Cornerstone Christian School Cougars on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Parkview Christian earned a 43-36 victory over Pawnee City. Given Parkview Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Pawnee City is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Merryl Paul and Jada Smith were among the main playmakers for Parkview Christian as the former scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian School waltzed into Saturday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Whiting with a sharp 49-26 victory.
Parkview Christian's win bumped their season record to 4-0 while Pawnee City's loss dropped theirs to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Parkview Christian against Cornerstone Christian School in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 61-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parkview Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
