The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders pushed their score all the way to 67 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Holy Trinity by a score of 70-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (58), St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute still had to take the loss.
Several Marauders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Gidney, who scored 25 points. The matchup was Gidney's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jay?meir Goosby, who scored 17 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Holy Trinity, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and Bishop Timon-St. Jude will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Timon-St. Jude is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Holy Trinity, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. John the Baptist at 7:30 p.m.
