Even though the Regents Academy Eagles have not done well against the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Regents Academy walked away with a 67-57 win over the Storm. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Regents Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Spradley led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Spradley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Terrell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy still got an impressive performance from Landry Gammon, who scored 26 points along with seven blocks and six steals. Gammon is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Lance Compton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Regents Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Regents Academy will be playing at home against the at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to take on the Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
