Central Christian is 8-2 against Lafayette Christian since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Central Christian Crusaders are on the road again and play against the Lafayette Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Central Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Central Christian's 17-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 72-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Konos Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Rocky Steidinger, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Byers, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lafayette Christian struggled with assists on Monday (Springwood had 1600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lafayette Christian was outmatched by Springwood at home and fell 97-36.
Despite the defeat, Lafayette Christian saw an underclassman step up: Brandon Davenport scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds.
The losses dropped Central Christian to 1-3 and Konos Academy to 3-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Central Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lafayette Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 35 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Everything came up roses for Central Christian against Lafayette Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 as the team secured a 80-39 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lafayette Christian's Cameron Gisler, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Central Christian to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
