The Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Bristol-Plymouth RVT Craftsmen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Upper Cape Cod RVT's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Barnstable 12-0. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Red Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
Taysia Lopes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lopes was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lucy Pesta and Rosalie Neville did most of the damage at the plate: Pesta scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4, while Neville scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Jaelynn Harraden, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bristol-Plymouth RVT strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Nauset Regional with a sharp 22-10 victory. Fans of the Craftsmen have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like Upper Cape Cod RVT, Bristol-Plymouth RVT also got a great game from a two-way player: Izzy Torres. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Torres is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Lola Dunderdale was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Bree Aldrich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.
Bristol-Plymouth RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .471 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Bristol-Plymouth RVT's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, their record now sits at 2-0.
