On Friday, Sequoyah opened the new year with a less-than-successful 44-36 defeat to Wright City. Sequoyah has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kase Lindly was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points for Wright City. The match was Lindly's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Green, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Sequoyah has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Wright City, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoyah will face off against Regent Prep at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Wright City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oktaha on January 6th. Oktaha is on a four-game streak of home wins, Wright City a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
