After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three game, The Westminster Wolves finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were dealt a 62-10 defeat at the hands of Denver East. While losing is never fun, Westminster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Denver East is ranked 27th).
Mason Kiewiet rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown. Elias Garcia was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Denver East was led to victory by Elijah West duah and Sean Campbell. West duah gained 217 total yards and two touchdowns, while Campbell rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Campbell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Declan Macdonald was another key contributor, throwing for 177 yards and three touchdowns.
Westminster now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Denver East, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster will take on Northglenn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northglenn comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Denver East, they will be playing at home against Mountain Range at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
