Kenesaw has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Axtell Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Kenesaw's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 63-34 defeat at the hands of Silver Lake on Friday. Kenesaw was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.
Despite the loss, Kenesaw saw an underclassman step up: Adam Denkert scored 14 points. Denkert set a new season high mark in steals with two. Another player making a difference was Blake Steer, who scored eight points.
Kenesaw struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Axtell might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Amherst an easy 64-41 victory. It was the first time this season that Axtell let down their fans at home.
Kenesaw bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Axtell, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Kenesaw skirted past Axtell 47-44 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenesaw since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
