Leake Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Israel Ross out in front who picked up 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 92 yards. Ross' longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Todd Edmond was another key passer, throwing for 292 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Newton County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Leake Central, their record is now an identical 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton County will welcome West Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Lauderdale will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Newton County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leake Central, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Forrest at 7:00 p.m.
