Lehman Catholic's John Husa rumbled for the longest rushing play in Northwest Central this season in his game against Perry last week. Husa scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 67 on the day as his team topped the Commodores.
Riverside moved up to 573 from 626 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to move up by topping Ridgemont 63-6.
Nick Rourke put up the best numbers in passing as Lehman Catholic beat Perry. He finished with 9 completions for 97 yards. Rourke's favorite target this week was Greg Spearman, who caught 4 passes for 51 yards.
Delaunte Thornton was the best running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 177 yards as Fort Loramie bested the Golden Gophers. Teammate Troy Benanzer added to the ground attack by rushing for 10 yards.
Thornton was a passing and rushing force as the Redskins defeated Ada. Thornton's favorite target this week was Craig Fullenkamp, who caught 2 passes for 38 yards.
Davidson was the best wideout in Northwest Central this week as Tim McGill's team bested Ridgemont. Davidson racked up 2 receptions for 61 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Richard Roll's team's Rourke and Andrew Westerheide have proven to be a lethal combination. Rourke has thrown for 1,050 yards this season, while Westerheide, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 372 yards. Fort Loramie's Thornton leads the league in rushing yards with 552.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Cavaliers' Westerheide goes up against the Pirates' Tanner Lane.
Next week's game between Lehman Catholic and Riverside will feature an aerial matchup as Rourke tests his arm against Lane's defensive ability.
The Pirates are currently in fourth, while the Cavaliers are in second.
Matt Burgbacher's team and the Bulldogs played the most contested game in the league this week, with Matt Burgbacher's team eventually emerging with a 14-8 victory. Thornton in the win.
