Middleton extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 17-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

As for Vel Phillips Memorial, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-7-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs.

For Vel Phillips Memorial's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Banyai, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Middleton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
