The Benton Cardinals waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They snuck past Chillicothe with a 50-44 win. That's another feather in the cap for Benton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Trout, who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that Trout scored 15 or more points. Jaishon White was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Benton pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Chillicothe, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton will take on the Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three contests. As for Chillicothe, they will be playing at home against the at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson] will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
