While Riverside didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Bethel 14-0 last Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three games by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Keira Manahan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Aubree Huston was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Hoffer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Riverside pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lehman Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
