The South Warren Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Tate Aggies at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. South Warren is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
South Warren is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: West Limestone, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (South Warren was ranked second). The Spartans walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats on Friday.

South Warren's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Pruitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Pruitt a new career-high. McLaine Hudson was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tate ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out West Florida 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aggies have posted against the Jaguars since March 25, 2022.
Jordan Smith spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kara Wine was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Madison Smillie also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Tate hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
South Warren's record now sits at 10-1. As for Tate, their record is now 5-8.
Tate's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Warren hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424.
