Lakeview will face off against Northwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeview has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Monday, Lakeview came up short against Ringgold and fell 12-8.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwood). Everything went their way against Pickering on Friday as they made off with a 22-7 victory. Considering the Gators have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Braxten McFarlain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Northwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Northwood got a massive performance out of Mannie Magallon, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Magallon a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Jesus Gonzales, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Northwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pickering only posted an OBP of .481.
Northwood's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Lakeview, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.
Lakeview couldn't quite get it done against Northwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 as they fell 13-8. Will Lakeview have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
