With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Kiley Connors was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bristol Eastern strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Northwest Catholic get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The game marked the Lancers' most dominant win of the season so far.
Hailey Beebe and Leah Webber made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Beebe struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Webber pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Beebe has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Beebe went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI, while Webber went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Corinne Sutula was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Wegiel, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bristol Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Newington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Bristol Eastern, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Newington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Bristol Eastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Newington skirted past Bristol Eastern 7-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will the Nor'easters repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
