The Poplar Bluff Mules lost against the New Madrid County Central Eagles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Poplar Bluff took a 72-53 bruising from the Eagles. Poplar Bluff has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Jadis Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds for New Madrid County Central. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. AJ Ruff was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Poplar Bluff dropped their record down to 10-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for New Madrid County Central, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.
Poplar Bluff will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sikeston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 contests -- so hopefully the Mules likes a good challenge. As for New Madrid County Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Pilots at 6:00 p.m. Cairo is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
