After a dominant win in their match last Friday, Kossuth were humbled on Friday. They took a hard 21-40 fall against Belmont.
Despite Kossuth's loss, the team got to see several of their players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. senior Matthew Bobo, who threw 2 TDs and picked up 40 yards on the ground, was the best among equals. If you haven't heard Bobo's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Brett Hayden Benjamin, who racked up ten tackles.
The defeat dropped Kossuth's record to 4-6. Belmont's victory brought them up to 5-4.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Kossuth will take on Alcorn Central at home at 7:00 PM next week. Alcorn Central are limping into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Belmont, they will go up against Booneville. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a win streak alive as Belmont skips in on three wins and Booneville on nine.
