Monsignor Scanlan has been on the road for eight straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Nazareth Kingsmen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monsignor Scanlan will be strutting in after a victory while Nazareth will be coming in after a loss.
Monsignor Scanlan put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They blew past Holy Cross 67-46. Given Monsignor Scanlan's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Holy Cross is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Nazareth unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Sunday. They fell to St. Joseph Hill Academy 49-43.
Nazareth's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Vanessa McManus, who scored 20 points along with two steals, and M. Moore who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. McManus hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games.
Monsignor Scanlan's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Nazareth, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Monsignor Scanlan didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Nazareth when the teams last played back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 76-71 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Nazareth's Reyna Scott, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Monsignor Scanlan to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
