The St. Francis Sharks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Monte Vista Christian 41-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javier Darosa-Fonseca. Despite the final result, he rushed for 33 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Pedro Ibarra, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Monte Vista Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominic Pierini out in front who threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes. Pierini is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Nico Downie was another key contributor, picking up 195 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
St. Francis has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Monte Vista Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
St. Francis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Monte Vista Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
