Basketball Recap: Blackman Piles Up the Points Against Wilson Central

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Blackman on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Wilson Central Wildcats out of the water with a 62-33 final score. The Blaze have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Blackman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layla Hall led the charge by shooting 50% from the field on her way to 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hall has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Amirah Herring was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 16 points.

Blackman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups.

Wilson Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylie Moss, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals, and Brylee Fly, who earned ten points and seven rebounds. Moss continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Blackman's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points over those games. As for Wilson Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-18.

Looking ahead, Blackman will challenge Cookeville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Blackman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. Wilson Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
